TOILETING PROCEDURES

1. Children will always be supervised by a staff member while in the bathroom area.

2. Teachers will ensure that children wash their hands thoroughly before and after snacks and meals, after toileting, and after playing outdoors, with liquid soap and running water.

3. Individual paper towels will be provided for each use.

4. Though given privacy, children will be assisted by a staff person as needed.

5. Teachers will wear disposable latex gloves when coming in contact with bodily fluids.

6. Teachers will wash hands thoroughly with liquid soap and running water after assisting children with toileting and will use individual paper towels to turn off water and dry hands.

7. Parents will provide sufficient extra clothing for their children, we will provide spare clothing at the center for emergency needs.

8. No child will be humiliated, punished, or verbally abused for soiling, wetting, or not using the toilet. No child will be forced to remain on the toilet or left in soiled clothing.

TOILET TRAINING PROCEDURES

1. Toilet training will be done with consideration for each individual child's readiness and with parental input regarding the toilet training of their child.

2. Children will be supervised during toilet training, and shall be praised for their efforts and accomplishments.

3. Toilet training will not be coerced. Individual developmental abilities of each child will be considered.

4. Though privacy will be provided teachers will assist, wearing disposable latex gloves.

5. Teachers and children will wash hands with liquid soap and running water after using the bathroom. Individual paper towels will be provided for each child and teachers use.

6. Parents will provide sufficient extra clothing for each day's use.

7. Parents will be kept informed of their child's progress.

8. Teachers will clean and sanitize potty chairs with soap and water and a germicidal cleaner or standard bleach solution. 7.24(4)

POLICY FOR THE STORAGE OF WET CLOTHING

Staff will wear disposable latex gloves when handling soiled clothing.

Soiled clothing will be removed from the child immediately and the child will be changed into clean dry clothing.

Soiled clothing,sheets, blankets, etc. will be double bagged and sent home at the end of the day to be laundered.

Parents are required to launder and return any clothing borrowed from the center's supply of extra clothes. 7.24(4)
