VIOLETTE VISIONS EARLY LEARNING CENTER TERMINATION AND SUSPENSION POLICY A child may be terminated from the program if the parent or management feels it necessary. A one-week notice, in writing, shall be given in such cases. Excessive adjustment or behavior problems, repeated harm to other children, or the center’s inability to meet the needs of the child are all reasons for termination to be considered. The center will document any concerns or unusual behavior, and call the parents in for a conference if necessary. If it is decided that a referral is needed, the center will continue with the referral process. If it is a behavior or adjustment problem, an agreement will be made as to whether: a specific period of time should be given to allow for improvement, during which time all behavior and / or concerns will be documented, or; the child will be terminated from the program. The center may, at its discretion, opt to suspend rather than terminate the child from the program, allowing another chance for satisfactory improvement to be shown. In such cases, suspension would be for one or more days with tuition remaining the same, or, at the center’s discretion, for a full week or more. If suspension is to be for a full week, the parent will be charged the reservation fee of half the tuition as is the policy for absences due to illness or vacation. The parent would, at that point have the option of terminating enrollment altogether. Documentation of behavior, concerns, parent conferences, reasons for termination, etc. will be maintained in the child’s file. Referral for other services available to the parent / child will also be documented. The termination will be explained to the child in a manner consistent with the child’s ability to understand. |
